Some Turbo Lister users who have taken the latest beta (6.3.100.28) are no longer able to insert pictures. Thet get an error of the form: “The file you have selected is not a valid picture file. Please select a valid picture file”.

We worked with one seller and managed to reproduce this error. The TL Beta has an updated EPS Control which requires 2 Microsoft dlls which we do not ship and hence may not be present on user’s machines. These 2 dlls are:

msvcr71.dll
msvcp71.dll

(We had these on our machines and never saw the problem)
On Wednesday, we plan to expire the beta and we will also fix the above problem by removing the dependencies on the above 2 dlls. Users who want an immediate fix can download the following two dlls to their windows system32 directory (c:\windows\system32):

http://www.scalemax.com/tlsupport/msvcr71.dll

We occasionally hear from sellers that their Turbo Lister is unable to access the Internet even though they are connected to the Internet. As a result they are unable to upload listings, check for Updates and so on. The error they receive from Turbo Lister is: “A connection to the server could not be established” or “Fail to Call eBay API” and so on.

Almost all of the time the issue is with

Firewall Settings

Internet Explorer Settings

Conflict with some program (often spyware..)

Here are some steps that can be used to fix this issue. Follow these steps sequentially and go to the next step if the current step does not help

Firewall Settings
Check Firewall Settings – the firewall must be configured to grant Turbo Lister Access. This is usually the main reason why Turbo Lister is unable to connect. Be sure to read your firewall documentation for instructions on how to configure it. Also see the following page http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls which has helpful instructions for different firewalls.

Note if you are running Windows XP SP2 firewall then no settings is required for Turbo Lister, since Windows XP SP2 firewall blocks only inbound traffic and Turbo Lister traffic is always outbound (Turbo Lister trying to connect to the eBay Servers). Windows Vista Firewall, however, blocks both inbound and outbound traffic so it must be configured to let Turbo Lister connect to the Internet

If you are sure that your Firewall Settings are correct then try changing your Internet settings

Internet Settings
Enable the following checkbox: Control Panel : Internet Explorer : Connections : LAN Settings : Automatically detect settings. Press OK

Exit Turbo Lister (if it was running), Restart Turbo Lister and see if this helped. If not enable these settings (if not already enabled)

Control Panel : Internet Explorer : Connections : Advanced Settings : HTTP 1.1 settings
Use HTTP 1.1
Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connection

Exit Turbo Lister (if it was running), Restart Turbo Lister and see if this helped. If this also did not help then there is a good chance that some programs (most likely spyware) might be conflicting with Turbo Lister

Program Conflicts
If you are running Norton (Antivirus, Internet Security Products), it is possible that the Norton software might be in a bad state. Running Symantec AutoFix may restore Turbo Lister connectivity to the Internet (this is how I fixed one of the seller problem). Run Symantec AutoFix from: https://www-secure.symantec.com/techsupp/asa/index.jsp?ref=consumertsus

If Turbo Lister still continues to have connectivity issue run an antivirus/spware scanner and see if that helps

eBay is currently running the Value Pack promotion for $0.25 – the normal cost is $0.65. However if you select this option in Turbo Lister and calculate fees you will see Turbo Lister is still showing Value Pack for $0.65. This is a known limitation in Turbo Lister (and for all the 3rd Party Listing Applications built on top of eBay API) in that the fees for “Real Time Promotions” such as the current Value Pack are not updated to reflect the current promotional pricing. You will, however, be only charged $0.25 for this option while this promotion is still current.

For more information on the promotion please see:

Many Turbo Lister users when uploading their items are seeing this message:

Paypal promotional financing is no longer supported in eBay listings. It has been dropped from your listing

This is a warning message and can be ignored – See:
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200707051650392.html

In Turbo Lister this warning message is only displayed if PayPal is selected as one of your Payment methods. Unfortunately this message is also displayed even if Buyer Financing is “Not Offered”. This week we are releasing an update to Turbo Lister that will remove the Buyer Financing option. For users who take this week Turbo Lister update, this message will no longer be displayed.

However given that not all users update their Turbo Lister right away, we will also (next week or later) make changes to the eBay servers so that they will not return this warning mesage if an older version of Turbo Lister list items with Buyer Financing set to “Not Offered”
